Drink-driver downed four pints and bottle of wine and had ridiculous excuse for crash

A mum crashed into a ditch after drinking four pints and a bottle of wine but blamed the crash on seeing a fox's eyes. Allison Weightman was on the way to pick up her 15-year-old daughter when she crashed near Shiremoor, North Tyneside.

The part-time barmaid,  from Earsdon in Northumberland, blamed the fact she flipped her car over on seeing a fox's eyes. But she was so drunk that when a passer-by stopped to help and pull her out of the car wreckage, she actually fell back into her Ford Ka, reports Chronicle Live .

According to a breath test on the 47-year old, she had consumed over four times the drink-drive limit on January 16 when the road smash took place.
