Dr Michael Mosley left £1.7m to his wife Clare in his will after his tragic death while on holiday to Greece, The Sun reports. The This Morning star went missing on the Greek island of Symi in June, with his disappearance sparking a four day man hunt. The publication reports that Michael’s total estate was worth £1,750,432, which was reduced to £1,738,654 after legal costs were paid. The will, which was signed off in 2014, left his wife of 37 years all his assets which included property, cash savings and book and TV royalties.
Should Clare have passed away before her husband, a backup provision meant his four children would have shared the funds. Clare and Michael tied the knot in 1987, and in a statement after his tragic death, Clare described Michael as “ my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband.” It comes shortly after a coroner recorded an open conclusion in regards to the death of the star.
Senior coroner for Buckinghamshire, Crispin Butler, explained that Michael’s death was “indeterminate” and “unascertainable”, and that it “was most likely attributable either to heatstroke (accidental) or non-identified pathological cause”.
Mr Butler's written findings also ruled out homicide, suicide, or accident-related injuries as causes of death. According to a document from the coroner, family evidence confirmed details from the trip and outlined how they’d been staying with friends.
