The Universal Credit £20-a-week uplift was removed , furlough and applications for the fifth and final Self-Employment Income Support Scheme Grant (SEISS) closed, although employers can still make a late claim for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme if they have a "reasonable excuse" accepted by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
October also saw the energy price cap come into force with more than 14 million households across the country now facing fuel bills going up by an average of £139.
