Scotland's National Clinical Director has said people shouldn't cancel office Christmas parties this year but urged Scots to practice caution following the emergence of the Omicron variant.
Professor Jason Leitch was asked if Scots should scrap their festive gatherings after the head of the UK Health Security Agency Jenny Harries said parties should not go ahead if they are not necessary.
It comes as fears grow over the fast spreading new Omicron variant which originated in southern Africa and has now been found in several countries around the world.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed yesterday that all nine cases of the variant in Scotland can be linked back to a single private event on November 20.
