Deadwood star Peter Jason has died at the age of 80 as fans and loved-ones pay tribute.The star, best known for playing Con Stapleton, enjoyed a successful career and starred in various films and TV shows, accumulating in over 270 acting credits throughout his career, reports the Mirror.Director John Carpenter led tributes to Peter as he issued a statement on social media."Peter Jason, one of the great character actors in cinema, has died," he said. "His first movie was Howard Hawks' RIO LOBO.

He was a dear friend, and I'll miss him terribly."Throughout his lifetime, Peter starred in several John Carpenter and Walter Hill directed films over the years.He had worked with the actor on an array of movies including Prince of Darkness, They Live, Body Bags, In the Mouth of Madness, Village of the Damned, Escape from L.A., and Ghosts of Mars.Peter also worked on The Karate Kid, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Congo, and Mortal Kombat.

He began his acting career in 1967 for TV movie A Bell for Adano, which was an adaptation of the 1944 novel by John Hersey, where he played an unnamed duty officer.

His last credited role was in A Tale of 2 Fathers, a short film directed by Douglas Spain.Prior to what would become his final role, Peter appeared in We Are Gathered Here Today, a movie filmed remotely over video calling services as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
