Emmerdale and EastEnders star Kathryn Apanowicz dies at 64 as tributes pour in

The entertainment world is mourning the loss of actress and presenter Kathryn Apanowicz, who has passed away at the age of 64 after a long battle with illness.The sad news emerged on Monday, prompting heartfelt tributes on social media.

Kathryn was best known for playing two characters in Emmerdale – Dezzy Bell and Helen Ackroyd – for 24 episodes, as well as portraying Carol Starkey in an episode of rival soap Coronation Street.

She also played Mags for 58 episodes of EastEnders, as well as making appearances in Hollyoaks, Bugsy Malone and The Lenny Hentry Show.

Long-time friend and former ITV Calendar host Christa Ackroyd honoured the late star on Facebook, calling her a "lovely friend" and reflecting on their shared memories.
