Mikel Arteta has reportedly urged Arsenal chiefs to trigger a clause in David Luiz’s contract to keep the defender at the club.
Luiz joined from Chelsea last summer in an £8m deal but found life at the Emirates difficult to begin with. The Brazilian struggled under Unai Emery but has flourished since Arteta took charge in December.
He has helped the Gunners to three Premier League clean sheets in their last four matches with Arteta’s side unbeaten in the league since December.
And The Sun claim that Arteta wants to reward Luiz with a one-year extension to his contract. Luiz recently admitted he had struggled to cope following his £8m move from Chelsea last summer.
