Denis Suarez has lifted the lid on his nightmare loan spell with Arsenal where he claimed he was only operating at 30 per cent of his full fitness.
The Spanish midfielder was signed on a temporary basis by Unai Emery in January last year, with a view that he could provide a welcome boost to Arsenal's fortunes in the back end of the season.
But the ex- Barcelona star managed just six appearances for The Gunners in his four-month spell due to rotten luck with injuries. "I played in my first game against Manchester City and then 10 days later I got injured (in the first leg) against BATE Borisov in the Europa League," Suarez told The Athletic. "I had too much pain in my groin.
