Millions of workers are set to get a pay increase after UK chancellor Jeremy Hunt unveiled plans to boost the National Living Wage (NLW) last month.
The news comes as the cost of living continues to soar and wages decrease in real terms for many. Though the announcement of the rising NLW came last month, workers won't feel the impact for some time.
The NLW will rise to two-thirds of average earnings, with the chancellor committing to Low Pay Commission recommendations, with latest forecasts showing a pay boost worth over £1,000 for two million low-paid workers.
The NLW is a minimum hourly pay rate that is intended to ensure a basic living standard for workers aged 23 and over. It is designed to help reduce rates of in-work poverty and "incentivise work".
