The funeral of Dame Vera Lynn, which featured a procession , mass singalong and a Battle of Britain flypast, brought a village to a standstill today.
Crowds lined the streets of Ditchling, the East Sussex village where Dame Vera lived for more than 50 years, to pay their respects.
The Forces' Sweetheart died last month on 18 June at the age of 103. Police officers closed off roads for the funeral procession which began at her family home and ended at Woodvale Crematorium.
Posters were put up of Vera in her hey day and traditional bunting hung out in shop windows as residents paid their respects.
