A dad who went to his doctor with a lingering tickly tough has been given just months to live after being diagnosed with a rare cancer.
Martin Hughes, 37, first noticed the cough in November 2022 after returning from a holiday to Greece. Just before Christmas he visited the doctor after failing to shift it, and was later told he had throat cancer.
His doctor told him 'not to worry' as most forms of the condition are easily treated - but after further tests, Martin was diagnosed with a rare cancer of the throat - small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma - after it spread from his bowel, reports the Liverpool Echo.
