A creative mum has transformed her backyard into a stunning retreat - and it hardly set her back. Paula Owen, 46, used bargain items from B&M, Aldi, Poundland and charity shops to leave her previously-uninspiring garden looking unrecognisable.

The mum-of-two, from Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, wanted a change of scenery while at home during lockdown. She told the Liverpool Echo : "When we first moved in it was just a paved backyard. "Over the years, I added little pots, but I decided about four years ago I would smarten things up.
