A "fit and active" NHS nurse who "lit up the room" has died after contracting coronavirus. Ken Lambatan, 34, was a frontline worker at St George's Hospital's cardiac unit.
His death was announced just before the UK held a one minute silence for healthcare workers who have died fighting the deadly virus.
Mr Lambatan is the latest NHS worker to have lost his life battling the bug that has left more than 21,000 dead in the UK - and counting.
The research nurse was "fit and active", according to friends. Jacqueline Totterdell, chief executive of St George's Hospital and Professor Jenny Higham, Principal of St George's, University of London, led tributes to their colleague, Mail Online reports.
