There has been various reports and rumours that ibuprofen can be dangerous to take if suffering from coronavirus. False social media stories have fuelled confusion over whether it is safe to take the over-the-counter painkiller.

Despite there being no scientific research into ibuprofen and the new Covid-19, leading health officials and doctors have warned about taking it until there is more solid evidence.

It comes after the parents of a four-year-old girl with undiagnosed coronavirus symptoms claimed that ibuprofen caused her to become seriously ill.
