Europe is now the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, the head of the World Health Organisation has said. At a press conference this afternoon, Dr Tedros Adhanom announced that across the world 5,000 people have now lost their lives because of Covid-19.
The WHO Director General said the epicentre of the disease has now moved from China, where it was first reported earlier this year, to Europe.
Spread over 123 countries, 132,000 people have now been reported to the organisation as having the disease. Dr Tedros said: "Europe has now become the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic, with more reported cases and deaths than the rest of the world combined, apart from China.
