Coronation Street's Andy Whyment responds to soap exit concerns as he's seen in completely new role

Coronation Street's Andy Whyment, famous for his role as lovable Kirk Sutherland, has sparked concerns about his stint on the ITV series.

It comes after the actor, 43, had taken on a completely new role, miles away from the world of Weatherfield. Famed among cast and fans for belting out tunes during Corrie gatherings, Andy showed off his vocal prowess beyond the cobbles when he performed at a local festival.

For the occasion, Andy joined the band Organised Mayhem and delivered a roaring performance of Kings of Leon's, Sex on Fire hit, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Delighted with the experience, Andy shared a video on Instagram and exclaimed: "Had a top day at Punch Fest, and it was a privilege to get up and do a song with @organised.mayhem1 who I think are a very talented band especially as they are only 14 years of age!!" His musical escapade earned applause from Corrie stars past and present, including Tony Maudsley (George Shuttleworth), who enthused: "You little ROCK STAR! ! !
