Coronation Street legend Alison King has revealed she was "filled up with emotion" and in tears while filming her final scenes with co-star Chris Gascoyne.

Alison, who plays Carla Connor in the soap, is set to be at the centre of some heartbreaking scenes over the festive period as her husband Peter Barlow, played by Chris, leaves the cobbles.The couple’s love story has captured the hearts of the nation for well over a decade, and they've become one of the country’s most-loved telly partnerships.Their relationship has been a bit of a rollercoaster for the pair but in 2021 they delighted Corrie fans by tying the knot for a second time.

However, their love story is set for yet another gut-wrenching twist on Boxing Day as Peter decides to leave Weatherfield behind.

Fifty-year-old actress Alison has opened up about filming their final scenes, admitting she didn't need a “tear stick.” “We're filming solidly together for two days," she said. "There was a lot to learn. “But aside from that, it was amazing, but it was so emotional, I did not need any tear stick for those scenes.There was no way of knowing what would happen because every time we did it I literally filled up with emotion and started crying at different times in every scene. “Just seeing a different look from Chris would set me off because he's so wonderful at the Meisner technique, which involves an actor reacting to another actor’s performance and behaviour, he's so reactive. “That's why I've loved working with him so much, it’s always about the reaction.
