Coronation Street has reached the end of an era this week, as Peter Barlow exits the soap and calls an end to his relationship with Carla Connor.
Actor Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter, has said goodbye to his career on the show.It was revealed earlier this year that Chris would be leaving the ITV show after 23 years.
He first appeared as young Peter in 2000 during Coronation Street's 40th anniversary live episode - and left again in 2003.He returned for a brief time in 2007, before coming back permanently in 2008.
In January 2014 it was confirmed that Chris would be leaving once again, but the following year he reprised the role for two episodes for the funeral of Deirdre Barlow, played by Anne Kirkbride, reports Manchester Evening News.Then in 2016, Peter made a return to Weatherfield, and Chris remained in the role ever since - until now.
