Coronation Street 'launches new animated series' after coronavirus stops filming

Coronation Street bosses have announced they will launch a new animated series based on the hit soap after filming of the main series was halted due to coronavirus.

In a surprising announcement, the official Coronation Street Twitter account confirmed the news to their 1.7 million followers.

The ITV Corrie account wrote: "EXCLUSIVE: Coronation Street: The Animated Series. "Experience all the drama, comedy and romance you've come to expect from Corrie, but in a way you've never seen before!" The then shared a short advert to promote the new series.
