Coronation Street fans were left questioning what they were actually watching as the show made a major change to mark the new year.

Fans were treated to a trip to Weatherfield on Tuesday night (December 31) which saw the residents of Weatherfield ringing in 2025, many at the Rovers Return with landlady Jenny Connor.

They included new couple Carla Connor and DS Lisa Swain. Lisa’s injuries from an unexpected work call left her with a busted lip but it didn’t stop Carla kissing her as the clock struck midnight. "It was well worth the pain," Lisa admitted before Carla gushed: "You know what this is the best start to a new year in a very long time.

Let’s hope the rest of 2025 is just as good." Lisa warned: "Don’t jinx it," before Carla spoke her true feelings. "Jinx it? I don’t believe in fate.
