Fans of the ITV soap were delighted last year when Carla and Lisa finally gave into their feelings after months of growing closer to one another and a 'charged' moment during the autumn.
But their new relationship has already faced challenges with Lisa looking into the death of her partner Becky while on duty and now Carla's health in a worrying state.
As viewers have seen, Carla was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with sepsis. Doctors later confirmed that the infection had badly damaged her kidney, and it's since been confirmed she'll need a transplant seven years after she last faced one.
