Lesser Celandine This grows beneath the chestnut tree in my garden. Its strategy is to get all of its growth done early in the year and its lovely waxy heart-shaped leaves begin to appear during the winter.
About now it produces these radially symmetrical flowers, which open in the sunshine. It’s a member of the buttercup family and you can see the similarity in the petals.
