Chris Cadden spent the last week hobbling round Hibs ’ Marbella training camp in a moon boot and on crutches knowing he couldn’t kick a beachball never mind a football.
But there was no way the Easter Road star was going to allow the Achilles injury suffered with just 22 minutes of last season remaining to rule him out the trip – not when it had already seen him have to abort his own stag do to the same sunshine spot.
Not when it had forced him to sit out a family and friends’ trip to Wembley to cheer on twin brother Nicky in the League One Play-Off Final with Barnsley.And certainly not when it’s going to cost him another first taste of European football when Hibs kick off their season in just 12 days’ time.
Cadden admits the pain when his tendon ruptured during the Edinburgh derby was like someone had stabbed him in the back of the leg with a knife.But it was only the start of a week torn apart like his Achilles.
