Steven Spielberg has made no secret of his support for Joe Biden’s reelection, and now the Oscar winner is rolling up his shirt sleeves for the team.
Spielberg is involved strategically in the incumbent’s campaign and even the specifics of the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August, Deadline has confirmed. “Steven wants to be as helpful as possible to the president,” a well-placed source says. “He believes this is one of the most important elections in the nation’s history.” The filmmaker is unlikely to helm a short movie at the DNC about Biden this year the way he helped do for John Kerry in 2004 and at the 2008 convention when Barack Obama was nominated.
However, Spielberg has been working with key advisors on how “convey the president’s successes and his vision for the country” to viewers and delegates, I’m told.
Representatives for Spielberg had no comment on reports of the director’s participation in the Biden campaign when contacted by Deadline.
