The international break came at a bad time for Chelsea given the form Frank Lampard's side had discovered prior to the two-week Premier League hiatus.
Lampard's side are currently unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions and have won their last four matches, scoring 14 goals in the process.
Chelsea will return to action on Saturday with a trip to Newcastle United, and the array of talent signed in the summer is likely to be on display at St James' Park.
Yet the Blues activity in the transfer market does not appear to be over. We are less than two months away from the January window opening, and chances are Lampard will be busy as he tries to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title and in the Champions League.
