Chelsea ace Billy Gilmour has admitted he was surprised he was not sent out on loan in January. The 18-year-old hit headlines when he starred in two impressive showings in midfield, first against Liverpool in the FA Cup and then Everton in a 4-0 victory.
In both matches, the Scotsman was handed the man of the match award and drew praise from the likes of Roy Keane. However, Gilmour was shocked to even be there after being convinced that Frank Lampard was going to ship him out on loan.
