A charity which provides support to stroke survivors is facing a bleak future.Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS), which has a base in Wishaw, is losing around £500,000 a month during the coronavirus lockdown but has seen an 80 per cent increase in demand for its services.The charity relies heavily on income from its charity shops but the Wishaw Main Street base, which only opened last year, could be forced to close unless it secures financial backing from the public.News of the charity’s dire situation comes during national stroke awareness month.Chief executive Jane-Claire Judson, said: “Right now, more people than ever before are in desperate need of our help.“We want to make sure we are still here to support them now and in the future.
