Celtic are looking to seal a double loan move for Nat Phillips and Paulo Bernardo. The Scottish Premiership champions - who have a deal in place to sign Honduran winger Luis Palma from Aris - are hoping to complete both deals before Friday's deadline.
Talks have been opened with Liverpool for Phillips and a similar agreement has been reported to be close in Portugal with Benfica.
The move would see Phillips come north to help ease Celtic’s central defensive crisis. The 26-year-old would provide cover as Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh are all out for around two months.Phillips was a young player coming through the Anfield ranks when Brendan Rodgers was Liverpool boss.
The Englishman has made several first-team appearances for Liverpool but his main football in recent seasons has come via loan spells at Stuttgart and AFC Bournemouth.
