A Celebrity Big Brother star who'd served jail time sadly died at the age of 44 after battling stage four lung cancer. Dustin Diamond, known for his role on Saved By The Bell had stage four small cell carcinoma, a type of cancer that commonly occurs in the lungs, a diagnosis he received just three weeks prior to his passing on 1 February, 2021.

A representative for Dustin confirmed the devastating news at the time, stating: "We are saddened to confirm of Dustin Diamond's passing on Monday, February 1st, 2021 due to carcinoma." They added, "He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago." The representative further shared the details of his illness: "In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution," They expressed relief that Dustin did not endure prolonged suffering: "Dustin did not suffer.

He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful." Dustin was initially hospitalised in January the same year, after experiencing body pains and concerns about a neck lump.

Following his admission to a Florida hospital, his cancer diagnosis was confirmed. An official statement on Dustin's Facebook page announced: "At this time we can confirm Dustin does have cancer."
