CCTV van to be used to deter anti-social and environmental crime across Stirling

Efforts to increase safety and security for locals are being boosted with the introduction of a CCTV van that has been purchased by Stirling Council.The new vehicle will deliver increased mobile CCTV surveillance across the Stirling area, acting as a deterrent against the likes of anti-social behaviour and environmental crime.This includes littering, fly-tipping, vandalism, intimidation and harassment.

It will also support the gathering of evidence and provide high visibility public assurance.The mobile CCTV unit will roll out across Stirling from August and be deployed seven days a week.Primarily it will be used by Stirling Council but will also, as required, be used in partnership with other agencies including Police Scotland.It will also support the aims of the council’s new anti-social behaviour policy that was approved earlier this year.Environment, transport and net zero convener Councillor Jen Preston said: “I’m delighted we’re able to provide enhanced security and public assurance with the introduction of the mobile CCTV unit.“We want residents to feel supported and safe within their own communities, and the increased surveillance provided by the CCTV van will provide a visible deterrent against anti-social behaviour.“If you are at all impacted by anti-social behaviour in Stirling, please know that you can report it.

Our new piece of equipment will be able to assist in gathering evidence and help to discourage people from behaving in ways that are either a nuisance, intimidating or harmful to residents.”Chief Inspector Caroline Logan said: “We welcome the investment in a new CCTV van by Stirling Council.“It will be a valuable asset in ensuring people feel
