Erik ten Hag doesn't have long to get things shipshape for Manchester United this summer. Pre-season has already begun, in a sense, and there is plenty of work still to do.
The 1-0 defeat to Rosenborg on Monday raised more questions rather than answers, not so much in the specifics of the United team, but more what they were actually hoping to get from a game with five senior players that could have been a lot stronger if first-team defenders hadn't been back in England with an injured coach.
That is the past though, and more serious tests await. United head to America less than two weeks before the Community Shield final, and just three ahead of the season starting.
If it all seems quite cramped - with three games out in the States - it's because it is. That's what international tournaments do, but that is of little excuse.
