Caring Lanarkshire family hold toy and homeless appeals to help people in need this winter

A caring Coatbridge family provided gifts galore to help the hungry, homeless and fun-loving youngsters over the festive period.Kind-hearted brothers Liam, 14, and Ciaran McHugh, 13, along with their dad Arthur and younger sister Caoimhe, eight, wanted to do “their very best” to support “people in need and the community”.And they did just that with a series of awe-inspiring activities to warm hearts this winter.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

"We received donations from far and wide and, by Christmas, we managed to distribute toys to more than 400 families in time for Santa's arrival. "The team also held a successful Breakfast with Santa during which children and families came along and received free food and drink, met Santa Claus and received gifts and selection boxes. "This was followed up by a free movie night in the One Church where we showed Elf and more than 100 kids joined us to enjoy popcorn, drinks and snacks before being treated to a present. "Due to the generosity of our toy appeal we were able to help other local charities who were doing similar work to ourselves, which was extremely rewarding."The marvellous McHughs didn't stop
