direct to your inbox Care homes in Rochdale have been warned not to rely on Covid-19 rapid test kits for visitors due to serious concerns over their accuracy.
The council has stepped in after the government announced lateral flow tests were now available to allow care home visiting to take place.
At yesterday’s meeting of Greater Manchester’s emergency Covid committee - which includes senior councillors, the mayor, adult social care directors and directors of public health - major concerns were raised about the appearance of thousands of tests at care homes without a detailed plan for training or delivery.
And, following that meeting, Rochdale council's chief executive Steve Rumbelow said the authority was not satisfied that the tests were.
