A robber who targeted the wrong man was caught after leaning on a table during the raid. James Lamb's DNA was recovered from the furniture.
Masked he had lay in wait in a communal area for resident to return to a property in Brierley Street, Bury. When the man arrived, Lamb who was wearing a balaclava demanded money and drugs - something the vicitm was not involved in.
He used the man's own shoelaces to tie him up at knifepoint. Lamb then searched the man’s room before leaving and taking his Mercedes.
However, neighbours were able to free the man and run downstairs, at which point Lamb left the Mercedes and fled.
