Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.

In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Bruno Fernandes is 'just like Cristiano Ronaldo ' and cannot bear to lose. That is the verdict from former Sporting Lisbon team-mate Luiz Phellype.

Manchester United snapped up the midfielder for a fee that could rise to £67m after a drawn-out pursuit that lasted from the summer previous.

And he has been an instant hit, scoring three and assisting four in nine appearances and already becoming a fan favourite. The 25-year-old was awarded the February Player of the Month and came at a time when United's form took an upward spiral.

However, Fernandes is just like Ronaldo in that he hates losing so much, he cannot even talk. That is according to Phellype, who knows the Portugal international well from his time with him at Sporting.
