Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.

In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Bruno Fernandes is confident he and his Manchester United team-mates will hit the ground running when the Premier League restarts.

The Portuguese midfielder has impressed since joining from Sporting Lisbon in a £47million deal in January. And despite United losing to Championship promotion hopefuls West Brom on Friday night, Fernandes is confident his side will be ready to take on Tottenham next week. "We are really happy," he said. "Things are really intense, really good. "We wait for this moment because we like to play football and we are really enjoying this time." Fernandes found the target against the Baggies in a warm-up game but also missed a penalty as United were beaten 2-1.
