Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Bruno Fernandes' positive impact at Manchester United has given the Red Devils the green light to sell Paul Pogba. That's the opinion of Danny Murphy, who reckons Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should build his team around the Portuguese because he's more and effective and productive than Pogba.
The Red Devils signed Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window, and the midfielder has hit the ground running with a goal in each of United's past three fixtures.
Pogba on the other hand has been out of action with an ankle injury, and hasn't represented the Red Devils since Boxing Day.
The Frenchman has started to become a forgotten figure at Old Trafford, and former Liverpool midfielder Murphy has suggested his time is up at United.
