Two brothers have appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged altercation with police at Manchester Airport. Video footage of an alleged incident involving police officers and members of the public in July last year.
In December the Crown Prosecution Service announced it had authorised the charging of two men. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, from Rochdale, was charged with two counts of causing actual bodily harm; one count of assaulting an emergency worker; and one of common assault.
Muhammad Amaad, 25, also from Rochdale, was charged with one count of causing actual bodily harm. The men, both wearing grey suits, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Thursday morning (January 16).
They made no indication of pleas to the series of charges put to them during the 10-minute hearing. Mohammed Amaaz, of Tarnside Close in Rochdale, is charged with assaulting a member of the public, named in court documents as Abdulkareem Hamzah Abbas Ismaeil, by beating him on July 23, 2024, at Manchester Airport.
