Other popular fillings include cheese and pickle and chicken and bacon. And let’s not forget crisp sandwiches… they really are hard to beat.
In contrast, egg and cress sarnies have fallen out of favour. They are slipping out of the top 10, which may be surprising to some.
Warburtons, which commissioned the same poll in 2018 and 2020, commented on the findings. The baking firm says bacon butties have overtaken cheese sandwiches for the hotspot in recent years.
