Brendan Rodgers insists his players will be safe even if Leicester is put into a local lockdown. Government officials are monitoring developments after the city was hit by a spike in the virus and there are already fears restrictions could be reimposed.

That could raise questions over whether Leicester’s next home game against Crystal Palace next Saturday could be moved to a neutral venue which is the Premier League’s fall back option in those circumstances.
