Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has thanked Mark Lawwell for his work after the head of first-team recruitment resigned from his post.
Peter Lawwell's son arrived at Celtic Park in the summer of 2022 having operated at City Football Group’s head of scouting - but has now left the Scottish Premiership champions amid criticism of his signing strategy that has seen the recruits this term struggle to break into the side.
Joe Dudgeon, Celtic’s lead first team scout joined from the City Group follows Lawwell out of the door. A club statement revealed the duo have been placed on "gardening leave".
Speaking on the exits, Rodgers said: “As part of the club’s recruitment team, Mark and Joe have worked tirelessly to bring success to Celtic, and I would like to wish them both the very best for the future.” Celtic chief executive, Michael Nicholson, added: “Everyone at Celtic thanks Mark and Joe for their contribution and dedication to the club, and we wish them both every success moving forward.” Follow Record Sport on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond.
