Brendan Rodgers has revealed Parkhead chief executive Peter Lawwell had been planning his retirement back when he was the manager in Glasgow's east end.
Now excelling at Leicester City, the boss sometimes crossed swords with Lawwell over transfers between his arrival in 2016 and his sudden departure in February 2019 - his 'terminado' line after John McGinn slipped through the net being a notable public example.
But despite that, on the day it was confirmed the 61-year-old will retire at the end of the season, Rodgers offered an emotional tribute.
Lawwell's 17-year reign will come to an end in the summer after 29 trophies - although it looks incredibly unlikely he will add another Scottish Premiership to the 13 won under his watch.
