Police descended on an area of woodland in Wigan this morning (18 October) after reports of a woman being stabbed. Officers received the call from near Amberswood Common around the Platt Bridge area at around 10.10am today, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.
A woman has been taken to hospital following the horrific incident. No further details about her age or identify have been released. Police haven't provided any more information about the attack, and no arrests have been made as yet. Officers are said to have remained in the area this afternoon to conduct enquiries.
Eyewitnesses walking in the area of woodland at the time described seeing police and paramedics swarm the area this morning.
