A man has been charged in connection with an alleged rape in Bolton town centre at the weekend. Greater Manchester Police says a man approached officers in the early hours of Sunday morning (January 23) reporting he had been raped.

Today (January 26), GMP has charged a 24-year-old Bolton man with four counts of rape and common assault in connection with the incident.
Said Abshir Omar, of Shepley Avenue, has been remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court later today.
