Man on mobility scooter assaulted after Bolton Wanderers v Morecambe match

A man in a mobility scooter was reportedly assaulted after Bolton Wanderers' match at Morecambe. Morecambe Area Police are now trying to track down two Morecambe supporters who helped the man following the alleged incident.

In a statement on the force's Facebook page, a spokesman confirmed that it happened on Westgate, close to the Mazuma Stadium, at around 5.30pm on February 5. "We are aware two Morecambe supporters helped this male.

If this was you please contact the Police you maybe able to assist us with our investigation. "If anyone has any information regarding this incident on Westgate, Morecambe, around 17.30 hours please call 101 and quote log number LC-20220205." During the match, both sets of players were taken off the pitch and the game was suspended for 10 minutes after allegations of racial abuse directed towards the Wanderers dugout.

A 61-year-old man from Morecambe has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and released on bail pending further enquiries.
