Jim Beard, the touring keyboardist for Steely Dan for the past 16 years, has died at the age of 63. He passed away on Saturday, 2 March in a New York City hospital “from complications due to a sudden illness”, Deadline reports.The composer and producer joined the live Steely Dan band in 2008 when he joined them on their Think Fast Tour. Earlier this year, he joined them for a show in Phoenix, Arizona on 20 January.

Emmerdale's Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas Dingle, has spoken out about her character's recent breast cancer diagnosis, having the faulty BRCA2 gene, and the decision to have a double mastectomy.The storyline has left some fans worried that Lucy might be leaving the show, just like her on-screen mum Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) did during Super Soap Week after her own cancer diagnosis. However, Lucy has reassured viewers that she has no plans to leave Emmerdale, saying she'd have to be forced to step away from the role as she said: "I'll stay as long as they'll have me." She told MyWeekly magazine: "I don't think I will ever make the decision to leave myself.They'll have to write me out, but even then they'd have to drag me out kicking and screaming! I've got a job that I love and I'll stay as long as they'll have me." Lucy also shared how emotional it was to film such a significant storyline, admitting she ended up "welling up" over the scenes.

Sharon Osbourne has revealed why she no longer speaks to Simon Cowell, despite previously labelling him a "close pal." Sharon, 71, famously appeared alongside Simon on The X Factor as a judge back in the 2000s, as well as fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemate Louis Walsh. It is crunch time for Raj Kapoor, Katy Mullan, and Molly McNearney, the three Executive Producers of the 96th Annual Academy Awards as they are putting final touches in place for what they hope will be a show that honors not just this year’s crop of movies, but also Hollywood’s and Oscar’s rich past history, and a ceremony that excites viewers to the point of keeping the recent post-pandemic ratings rise rising, (ie not going in the wrong direction). All indicators are, particularly with the potency and popularity of this year’s Best Picture contenders, and most notably the dual phenomenon of summer blockbusters Barbie and front-runner Oppenheimer (aka Barbenheimer) which have 21 nominations between them, that this could be a banner year for the Oscars as there is nothing more encouraging ratings-wise, as host Jimmy Kimmel told me earlier this week, than doing a show where viewers have actually seen the movies and have a rooting interest in the outcome.
