Two brave Scots cousins diagnosed with cancer within months of each other have opened up on their shock diagnosis. Amy Howard and Catriona Lynch have both spoken about their own experiences after spending much of the pandemic battling illness.
Amy, 42, initially thought she was suffering from Covid-19 since she had a high temperature, chest pain and shortness of breath.
After this was found not to be the case, an out-of-hours doctor suspected she might have asthma. However her condition soon deteriorated and a GP referred her to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh on May 19 last year for a chest x-ray, with lockdown restrictions meaning she had to attend the appointment alone.
