Boy rushed to hospital after attack in Scots town centre as cops lock down scene

A boy has been rushed to hospital after being attacked in an Ayrshire town centre this evening.Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, rushed to High Street in Kilmarnock shortly before 6.30pm after the alarm was raised of a youngster having been seriously assaulted.He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow to receive treatment.

His age, the extent of his injuries and his current condition is not yet known.Kilmarnock Bus Station, located on Green Street, was locked down by police following the assault, with vehicles blocking the road and the immediate vicinity being cordoned off.

It is understood officers remain in attendance. Stagecoach also initially said no buses would be stopping at the station tonight, and people were being advised to steer clear of the area.

The travel company added they were supporting Ayrshire Police Division.Now, a spokesperson has confirmed that the bus station has reopened with services operating as scheduled.
