The court was told that trouble flared at 4.40pm on May 30 this year after one of the boy's pals threw the McDonald's bag in the direction of Aboearab's table, and he went over to confront the group, reports Chronicle Live.

The victim stood up and punched Aboearab in what may have been a pre-emptive strike as he saw Aboearab reaching for his pocket, the court heard.

He was then stabbed in the torso during a scuffle.Prosecutor Neil Pallister said: "[The defendant] was struck with the knife and was then chased by the defendant around the downstairs area of McDonald's, and the victim and his friends ran out of the McDonald's followed by the defendant, and he ran after them as they ran off down Northumberland Street.”The victim made it to a nearby street where he was helped by members of the public, and they called an ambulance when they realised he’d been stabbed.
