The boss of the Co-op Live arena has been promoted after leading the venue's recovery following an 'embarrassing' launch. Rebecca Kane Burton took over the reigns of the east Manchester venue after the former CEO Gary Roden quit.
The £365m venue was originally due to open in April, but was hit with a number of setbacks due to 'technical issues' and ongoing building work.
A number of shows had to be rescheduled leading the venue to be branded a 'total embarrassment' for Manchester. Chaos also struck when part of the air conditioning unit fell from the roof of the venue ahead of the May 1 gig with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. On May 14, the venue, the biggest indoor arena in the UK, finally opened its doors. Following Mr Roden's resignation, Ms Burton stepped in as interim boss and has since been promoted to executive vice president of facilities management for Oak View Group International (OVG), reports City A.M.
